Tips For The Perfect Marquee/ Tipi Wedding...

Our Top Tip's Tuesday feature this week all comes with good reason, this Sunday we will be at the most gorgeous  Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa, they will be playing host an oh so pretty wedding fair, organised by us here at The Wedding Affair. Don't Underestimate...

Many couples think that going it alone and having a marquee wedding is a budget-friendly, easy option. But this isn’t always the case. Don’t underestimate the amount of work involved – not only in the organisation but the actual set up as well! It can easily be a much greater challenge than any other wedding venue, simply  because you may have to organise everything from scratch, with no professional to guide you along the way.

If you have your heart set on getting hitched under that lovely Tipi you have always dreamed of, yet would like to take the stress-free route, why not hire a totally professional company who will help you along the way. Alternatively, a wedding planner will be able to assist in more ways than imaginable, and organise your suppliers for you too! Great, right? A planner can also use their creative skills to decorate the venue, take delivery of all things wedding, plus manage the day itself so if any challenges occur they are dealt with in a professional manner leaving you to relax and party the night away.

The Style...

Think about the reception style you desire as this will affect the type of marquee that you could hire – traditional, frame or giant tipis, for example. Also, do take into consideration the site of the reception: traditional marquees can't go on hard-standing grounds like courtyards, due to the guy ropes so in this instance you’ll need a frame marquee.

Will you want windows and doors, or perhaps open on one side? Do you prefer round tables, square tables or long banqueting tables? These are all things you have to think about when thinking the size and shape too. (Remember, say a quick 'hello' to Black's event furniture hire - they have everything you will ever need to hire for your marquee wedding!)

Perhaps you even have a feature in the garden you want to incorporate? This is all possible too! A stunning flower bed or tree feature would look gorgeous in the centre of a marquee.

The Essentials...

Now to the nitty gritty, with a large, or small number of guests attending your wedding you will need to organize some mobile toilets. Do your research and look at reviews, look hard enough and you will find some nice contemporary ones too. Yes, really! Just make sure that you check the capacity is suitable for the number of guests attending and what power it requires.

Check with all suppliers how much power they need to ensure you hire the right size generator. Who will run all the cabling for you and will these be laid down safely?

Also, do your research when it come's to the catering too, does your marquee company provide extra space for chefs to work in? Look for well recognised caterers that specialise in marquee weddings so they provide the best service, and best of all, yummy food!
